The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (RCTP) issued a record number of driving licenses in 2025, providing licensing services to more than 1.38 million residents, according to its annual performance report.

The report revealed that a total of 1,386,887 citizens benefited from licensing-related services during the year, marking the highest volume ever recorded by the department. Officials attributed the achievement to expanded access to licensing facilities and improved service delivery across the Rawalpindi district.

Under reforms introduced with a focus on public convenience, the traffic police significantly increased its processing capacity. Authorities said the measures were implemented under the supervision of Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam, who has emphasized efficiency and accessibility within the department.

During the year, the department issued over 434,000 learner permits, highlighting strong demand from new and first-time drivers. In addition, 244,825 new driving licenses were issued — the highest annual total in Rawalpindi’s history.

The report also noted the issuance of 3,932 international driving licenses, allowing residents to legally drive in foreign countries, reflecting growing international mobility among citizens.

Officials stated that continued improvements in digital systems, staff deployment, and facility expansion played a key role in handling the rising number of applicants, and similar initiatives are expected to continue in the coming year.
