A Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was robbed during a public gathering in Multan, police confirmed on Thursday.
According to officials, NA-151 MNA Syed Ali Musa Gillani was attending a kabaddi match as the chief guest in the Basti Chapra Wala area when the incident occurred. During the event, unidentified thieves allegedly stole a valuable mobile phone from his pocket and fled the scene.
Police said officers from Budhla Sant Police Station reached the location shortly after receiving information and launched an immediate investigation into the incident.
A formal case of mobile phone theft was registered under case number 9/26, with Syed Ali Musa Gillani listed as the complainant. Law enforcement authorities later arrested the suspect involved in the theft and successfully recovered the stolen mobile phone from the accused.
Syed Ali Musa Gillani belongs to one of Pakistan’s most well-known political families. His brothers, Abdul Qadir Gilani and Qasim Gilani, are also members of the National Assembly, while Ali Haider Gilani serves as a Member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA).
They are the sons of former Prime Minister and current Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.
The incident has once again raised concerns about security arrangements at public events, particularly those attended by high-profile political figures.
