While Pakistan’s major cities welcomed 2026 with dazzling fireworks and celebrations, Islamabad’s Park View City experienced a night of chaos as unruly visitors turned a family-friendly event into a scene of destruction.
Social media clips reveal shocking scenes around the park’s iconic lake, famous for its illuminated fountains. What started as a festive evening quickly escalated into reckless behavior, with individuals damaging both public and private property.
Videos show people uprooting benches, smashing street lamps, and throwing objects into the lake. Large New Year banners and decorative installations were torn down, and some visitors even set small fires in multiple areas.
The disruption continued after the concert ended and fireworks lit the sky. Barricades and metal grills were pushed aside by some attendees, while large vehicles, including pickups and SUVs, drove across green spaces, leaving deep tyre marks and destroyed landscaping.
Witnesses criticized the lack of adequate security, noting the absence of law enforcement or dedicated crowd management. Even the security team responsible for protecting star performers, such as singer Falak Shabir, reportedly left immediately after the concert, leaving the venue vulnerable at its most critical moment.
Families who came to enjoy the celebrations were left shocked and disappointed. The night that was meant to highlight Islamabad’s vibrant New Year festivities instead raised serious concerns about planning, public safety, and civic responsibility.
