Pakistan’s women’s futsal team made history on January 15 by recording their first-ever victory in the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship 2026, defeating Sri Lanka 3-2 in an exciting encounter held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The landmark win was driven by an outstanding performance from young footballer Azwa Chaudhry, who scored all three goals for Pakistan. Her brilliant hat-trick proved decisive in a closely contested match and marked a major milestone for the national side in the regional tournament.

Pakistan entered the match looking to bounce back after a competitive 1-1 draw against Bhutan in their opening fixture. Showing greater attacking intent and confidence, the team capitalized on key moments, with Chaudhry’s sharp finishing making the difference against a resilient Sri Lankan team.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s men’s futsal team had a challenging start to their campaign, suffering a 7-1 loss to the Maldives. They will look to recover when they take on Bhutan on January 16.
